All of us have been affected by this crisis, in one way or the other.
The question is ... "Where do we go from here?"
Whether it is rethinking your next career move, starting a new business, or redefining your existing business, I know you will agree with me if I say that we need to move forward. It is easy to get stuck because of the overwhelming feelings of uncertainty. Yet, the show must go on, and we know that we can't afford to get stuck.
So, once again, I'm here to encourage you, help you see things from the outside, and give you tools you can use to move forward.
If you've been laid off as a result of this crisis, and your company has not closed down, the question is, do you want to go back to the same job or not?
If you've realized that your pre-Covid job has taken your time away from your family, which you are now enjoying, then it's not worth going back to that same job. However, you need to plot your course NOW.
Do you go back and stay for a few months before considering a new job, or do you start looking for a new one? In looking for a new one, make sure that you consider and incorporate your "priorities" into your career search, so as not to sacrifice your time with your family again.
If you've realized that your pre-Covid job is so unstable, then it's not worth going back to the same job. It's now time to start your search and look for jobs that offer greater stability.
If you've been laid off and your company has closed down, then it is surely time to start your job search.
If you were in the process of applying for new jobs prior to this crisis, then be hopeful that you will get that job. The good thing is you already have your foot in the door.
Don't ever think that there is no job out there for you. There are jobs even right now. Companies are hiring. And even those who stopped hiring will be hiring again. This is not the end of the world. This crisis is simply a break to make us rethink and remap, for greater effectiveness.
I recently posted this on Facebook ...
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT to say NO to anything or anyone that robs you of your peace.
Peace and stability go hand-in-hand. When you lose your peace, you lose your stability. And when you lose your stability, you will fall. When you fall, you affect those around you. This includes your spouse if you're married, your kids if you have children, your followers if you are a leader, and everybody else around you.
Choose what you allow in your heart and mind. Remember that you can only be effective and productive if you have a sound mind and stable heart.
Is this crisis making you think that it is better to have your own business that you can control? Is it making you consider starting a business from home? Or have you been planning to start one but have been so busy with your career?
Let me share something with you.
I've been working from home for the past 10 years. Though Resume Writing has been my main source of income, I have other services that has helped sustain me during this crisis. In fact, I've been wanting to transition to the coaching side of my business but have been very busy with the Resume Writing side. So, this crisis has given me the time to work on the many things in my list, including my first Business Online Course, YouTube videos, and E-newsletters. This quarantine didn't make much difference to me because I am so used to working from home. I do miss my physical interaction with clients and people I network with.
With this, I want to encourage you to start a business, if you've been thinking of doing so.
NOW is the best time to start planning. It may still take time, but at least you will be more prepared for it.
If you are a business owner and your business has been badly affected by the crisis, NOW is the time to rethink and modify. My having different services actually worked for me, not against me. The funny thing is, people, including marketing specialists used to tell me that I need to narrow down my services and focus only on one. I tried but couldn't do it. I knew they will come in handy.
NOW is the time for you to be creative.
What can your business do for people at this time? There are businesses that are thriving, and businesses that are still going. These are the ones who refuse to give up. They are 'out-of-the-box' thinkers.
Don't allow yourself to get stuck in a rut because of the uncertainties we are facing. Instead, move forward with me as we get ready for a new and better season.
